 This initiative of the Fotomuseo is realized every two years; this year it will count with 58 exhibitions at the Bogota Museum of Modern Art, Bogota Museum, Santa Fe Gallery, Mundo Gallery, Valenzuela Gallery, Luis Angel Arango Library, National Library, Exhibition Hall, Salamanca University Cultural Center, Colombo Americano Center and the Superior Arts Academy of Bogota. In addition there will be street exhibitions at the Fotomuseo modules and at 11 bus stops.
This event is being realized since 2005; the conceptual axis for this year is "Overstepping Objectivity, Characters, Spaces and Desire Objects"; it evades objective reality that supports social life and generates different shapes and forms, interactions with the imaginary field until it overlaps and steps over it.
An important percentage of the artists that work with photography have used the hypothetical halo of truth that covers truth to explore the cultural and political construction that we call reality in order to point out that everything that seems "natural" within it is rally ideological. In this manner when the artists plant options to reinvent he body, they do so in order to resist its normalization and to reveal the fictitious condition of the roles that they play. As psychoanalysis has argued, there is nothing in human life that has not been structured from cultural experience.
Artists are interested in examining places within their pictures. They are trying to mobilize the diverse spatial hypothesis about our bodies. The landscape sphere, far form configuring an illusion that approximates nature shows us the type of cultural representations that are employed to typify a territory. In the same manner, the city is a stage that can be interpreted in different manners because it always reflects the questions and doubts where the subject questions him or herself. Within the frame of this cultural activity, the Jorge Eliécer Gaitan Theatre will offer the theory seminary "Overstepping Objectivity" from Monday, October 8 to Wednesday October 10. The event will count with the participation of renowned experts like Joel Peter Witkin, Felix Suazo and Jan Erick Lundstorm, among many others. The cost of the seminary for the general public is of $70,000 pesos, for teacher and students with ID $50,000, for teachers and students of the District, National, Minuto de Dios and INPAHU university $40,000 and for senior adults and handicap citizens $40,000 pesos. At the exhibition hall of the Jorge Eliecer theatre there will also be an exhibition by three Colombian artists, Beatriz Grau- Diana Gomez and Guillermo Marin. They relate the city with different references in their project. A nocturnal car trip through a public avenue will be Marin's reference, an imaginary look at the rooms in a motel will compose Grau's work and an observation of the crosses between the public and private life will be the base of Gomez's work. In all the cases the space is perceived as an inseparable consequence of body temporality. The exhibition will be open from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entrance is free.
