The Mayor's Office of Bogotá and the World Organization of United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) are leading the 2023 World Forum on Cities and Territories of Peace, which gathers over 30 cities from 16 countries and approximately 100 leaders, representatives of international organizations, academics, and citizens on June 27th and 28th.

Here's a tweet about one of the opening events of this global forum taking place in Bogotá:

At this forum, held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, strategies are being proposed to promote the implementation of concrete policies and actions that contribute to building social peace, environmental peace, as well as peace with security and access to justice.

Among the leaders participating in the forum are Carolina Cosse, Mayor of Montevideo (Uruguay) and President of UCLG; Jan Van Zanen, Mayor of The Hague (Netherlands) and Co-President of UCLG; Clara Brugada, Mayor of Iztapalapa (Mexico); Rodrigo Mundaca, Governor of Valparaíso (Chile); and Claudia López, Mayor of Bogotá.

In addition to government leaders, the forum also brings together representatives from national governments and international organizations such as Nina Hachigian, Special Representative for Subnational Diplomacy of the United States; Andrew Harper, Special Advisor on Climate Action at the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR); and Reem Alsalem, United Nations Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women.

In this way, the Colombian capital solidifies itself as the epicenter of global dialogue on peacebuilding and reconciliation in Colombia and around the world.
